How to Get to Konjic, Bosnia

Konjic is well connected by bus to major cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Multiple daily services run from both Sarajevo and Mostar, making it easy to reach without a car.

Buses depart from the main bus stations and the journey follows the scenic M17 highway along the Neretva River valley. Tickets can be purchased at the station or online through getbybus.com.

Driving to Konjic is straightforward via the M17 highway. From Sarajevo, take the M17 south — the road follows the Neretva valley and the drive takes about 1 hour. From Mostar, head north on the M17 for approximately 1 hour.

Parking is available in the town centre near the Old Bridge. The roads are well-maintained and the scenery along the route is spectacular.

The Sarajevo–Mostar railway stops in Konjic. This is one of the most scenic train journeys in the Balkans, passing through mountains, tunnels, and along the Neretva gorge. The journey from Sarajevo takes about 1 hour.

Trains run twice daily in each direction. Tickets are inexpensive and can be purchased at the station. Check zfbh.ba for the current timetable.

The two nearest airports are Sarajevo International Airport (SJJ), about 60 km north, and Mostar Airport (OMO), about 60 km south. From either airport, you can reach Konjic by bus, taxi, or rental car.

Sarajevo Airport has far more international connections, including flights from Istanbul, Vienna, Munich, and other European cities. From the airport, take a taxi or bus to Sarajevo bus station, then connect to Konjic.

Konjic town is compact and walkable. The main attractions — the Old Bridge, riverside promenade, and restaurants — are all within a 10-minute walk of each other.

For activities outside town (rafting meeting points, hiking trailheads, Tito's Bunker), your guides will arrange transport as part of the tour. Taxis are available for independent trips — agree on a fare before departing.
